A fortnight ago I found reason to bake pet treats again, but the occasion for doing so was not joyous. A friend of mine got the terrible news that her beloved furbaby had lost his fight with cancer. I felt pretty helpless, but if I could do anything to make his final days a little extra cheerful, I would jump at the chance. Have you guys spotted the puppy sneakily hanging around the background of a few of my dessert photos? He's usually staring me down, trying to guilt me into sharing with him.

His name is Tobias. He's a Siberian Husky and the love of my life. Last Friday he turned two years old. So in celebration, I embarked on a first: home made pet treats.

My dog Milly's 2nd birthday was yesterday, and I made these cupcakes for the celebration. I've had this recipe saved for a long time, but this was my first time using it. I'm sorry that I don't have any pictures, but they did end up looking more like a muffin than a cupcake :) The dogs didn't really care what they looked like though!
